57c0c0627d9234ba6a0d2b86d5d57dc4Miami, FL – For the third consecutive year, Cable & Wireless/Columbus Business organized one of Central America, the Spanish speaking Caribbean and Andean region’s largest telecommunications events designed specifically for the financial and securities sector: III Financial Summit 2015. This year’s event was held from May 15 -18 on board a cruise ship traveling to the Bahamas. Leading executives from more than 70 banks, financial institutions, insurance companies and the securities sector in countries across the region took advantage of the opportunity to catch up on the latest technology trends in the financial sector, discuss the region’s macroeconomic outlook, and share information and experiences. Upon returning to Miami, the participants visited the C&W/Columbus offices in North Miami Beach, home to the impressive ARCOS-1 station. ARCOS-1 connects more than 15 countries through 8,700 kilometers of undersea fiber optic cable. The station houses the operations center responsible for overseeing and maintaining all of the company’s undersea networks. Furthermore, its structure, electrical and cooling systems were recently renovated, improved and expanded at a cost of more than US$10 million. During the cruise and the visit to the facilities, the company had the opportunity to hold working sessions with its customers and show them in detail their product portfolio; as well as better understand how to continue supporting them in their process of technological transformation. The participants also visited Fortinet’s laboratory facilities. Fortinet is one of C&W/Columbus’ business partner and leader in high-yield information security solutions, where they took part in a discussion about security solutions and shared stories of their successful implementation in the financial industry. “The financial sector is a crucial part of our company’s business. We serve more than 350 clients in the banking, financial, insurance and security sectors in Central America and the Andean regions. Our IT solutions, connectivity, security and international connections have helped many of our clients expand quickly and efficiently to other countries in the region. It was a pleasure to spend these three days interacting with the participants, discussing the latest trends in telecommunications and technology, and we hope to continue supporting all of their business needs,” said Fabio Vargas Rozo, Regional Sales Director for the financial segment at C&W/Columbus Business. Maria Mercedes Corral, VP Technology at Deceval, remarked: “We are grateful to C&W/Columbus for inviting us to participate in this event. The talks were very interesting and it was an excellent experience overall.”
